Hello world,

Ok, so I’ve been really busy the last few days – been here, there and everywhere! First and foremost, attended a small get together with some friends and played Left 4 Dead 2 on the good ol’ network! That’s right, 3 x-boxs and TVs, 3 copies of L4D2 and a whole lot of pizza and garlic bread make for a bloody brilliant evening. We captured about 2-3 hours of footage whilst gaming and I’m hopefully going to go through this soon and edit it – this includes in-game footage and footage of ourselves. Once edited will most likely chuck it up on youTube or something and share it on here. But yeah, would highly recommend playing this game on a network with some friends – survivor mode is a laugh as is versus. Survivor mode is basically up to 4 players take on a mass of Zombies in a variety of different settings and scenarios :) Versus on the other hand pitches two teams off against one another as they battle through the campaign; one round sees one team being the survivors and the others being the infected then they switch roles and replay the campaign. The team with the most points by the end of a complete campaign (up to 10 missions – 2 x 5) wins. Awesome fun again and would HIGHLY recommend it :D

Have also just discovered the delights that is Bioshock… Yes, I know, I’m massively behind the times, my bad, but when it first came out I just wasn’t in to it and thought it to be a load of bollocks. How wrong was I?! Borrowed it from a friend and have been addicted for the past 4-5 days with me passing out from sleep deprivation most mornings at 4-5amish :) lol. My bad… but have now completed it on easy (played it through first to get a gist of the story blah blah blah :P ) and will now be re-playing it on hard and to finish off the few achievements I missed out first time round :D Needless to say, cannot wait for the release of number 2 in February of next year! Should be sweet and will be pre-ordering it this time round!

Bioshock - Who's your daddy?

Bioshock - Who's your daddy?

Moving away from games, I’m now getting really stuck in to my course now as we have begun our first two projects; a 1,500 word essay on visual culture (a load of shit in retrospects) and an interactive media project. Personally, I, along with my partner in crime, have chosen to do a flash animation / game based on the sci-fi genre and existing games such as Dead Space, Mass Effect and Fallout 3. Good times! ;) But yeah, am really getting in to it now and have 5 weeks to produce it; have already done a lot of our scripting, audio and character designs and I will most likely post a few examples of this over the next few days… we shall see how I’m feeling :)

Anyway, I think I will leave it at that for this evening – I have to be up for work in less than 5 and a half hours so probably a good idea if I disappeared!

Peace.

Chris

Hello world,

Ok, I’m hoping this doesn’t turn in to a rant but, instead, demonstrates a little behind my own psyche. How accurate this may be can only be determined by those whom read it – I have my own ideas and views, you have yours; please do not abuse them. But yeah, through out my child hood my parents built ‘love‘ up to be this fantastic human entity that was flawless in every conceivable manner, that I would simply fall in love and that would be it. How wrong were they? Firstly, love is far from simple or easy (as I’m sure EVERYONE knows and I needn’t really state the obvious) but putting this aside, it is also cruel yet kind, character building yet heart breaking, so right yet so wrong… hell I’m sure we could all go on for some numerous hours.

I guess the point I’m trying to establish is it is also the strongest emotion a human being can possibly experience; even hatred isn’t as strong as love. This as love is hugely unpredictable – don’t ever try and plan for it because it just doesn’t work that way! I’ve spent too many years trying to plan relationships only to find that in the end their just not right for you. Because of this I find myself asking is it truly a human’s single best emotion? I mean lets face it, we’d all do almost anything for love right? Wrong again! Seems to me love has lost it’s meaning in todays society (and please disagree with me if you think otherwise – I’d love it to be the other way round!!). Divorce ratings are through the roof these days, with a new class of single mothers expanding daily. If love is truly our most sought after possession, why is it as a race we are slowly destroying it?

Now I’m not a non-believer but seriously, it’s a killer! We’ve all been there; been hurt by someone and most likely hurt someone else. I appreciate I am only 19 but the experiences I’ve had so far and the constant rise in divorces just cannot be ignored. I’m trying my best not to become a cynic and I do still believe in it, I’m just finding it more and more difficult to open up to anyone incase the same old same old occurs again. Love can consume us as a being, blinding us and leading us astray. Equally, it can move us, touch us and shape us into stronger beings.

Hopefully this hasn’t turned in to a rant but has instead formed the basis for a discussion. To this extent I pose this question, Love – is it our angel or our devil?

An added thought

Peace,

Hello all,

So I had a fairly average weekend with little to nothing happening :( Gf had a friend over so off they went and I had to work a little :( Boring boring boring tbh. That said, got to play a little more of the good ol’ L4D2 :D Sweet sweet sweet stuff! Never had so much fun playing a game in a long time. That said, am eagerly awaiting the release of Mass Effect 2… wasn’t overly keen on the first but that was because some bright spark told me to complete all of the side quests before I completed the main story; by the time I got round to completing the main story I was kind of bored of it. But I shalt await number 2 regardless and will not make the same mistake – after all Mass Effect was fairly epic :)

But yarsh, not a lot to report today as absolutely nothing happened. Unfortunately stuck in Uni all day tomorrow working on our projects; fun fun fun! Think I shalt leave it at that for now!

Peace,

Chris

Yello!

So I know I missed a day out on the old posting, but that would most likely be down to the fact I’ve have very little sleep in the last 2-3 weeks and kinda needed to catch up on some a little! :) (Am feeling fairly refreshed now and ready for anything that is thrown my way… well, almost anything at any rate!). So yeah, travelled from Cobham into the heart of London yesterday and I have to admit, I was sceptical about the London transport system – what with all the crap you read in the media! Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised and, despite being lunchtime, we were able to navigate our way through the maze of tube trains and subways to find ourselves outside the National History Museum.

What a place it is! Seriously, we spent 4-5 hours there and only managed to see a VERY small section that consisted of dinosaurs and mammals and a few insects and crystals – woo :D . Awesome place but you need a good 2 -3 days to walk around it and probably a week to take any of it in! Whilst walking around I did actually read a lot of the signs and information on display (sad… I know but heck, I feel slightly more educated for it!) and I stumbled across this:

I couldn't help but lol!

I couldn't help but lol!

I just couldn’t reframe from quite literally laughing out loud and embarrassing my gf immensely :D I can appreciate that not all people are able to read these long, complicated words, but was there any need to break it down like this? Either way, damned lucky dinosaur me thinks! Something else that freaked me out was the presentation of what could (or rather I assume) is a real brain and spinal cord… believe me, kinda freaky to see what is actually inside your head!

The Brain!

The Brain - real or fake?!

I’m hoping, to be honest, it isn’t a preserved brain and instead a mere replica… otherwise it makes the experience a whole lot more disgusting I guess… 0_o. Anyway, moving on! Definately definately definately worth a trip and would recommend to all :)

Upon leaving the National History Museum, her ladyship discovered she had lost her ruddy train ticket… how bleeding stupid can you get? *in a mimicking tone* I know what I’ll do… put my train ticket in my back pocket instead of securely in my wallet or handbag! Yes, yes you do that XD. But, to be fair, if you had a receipt to prove you had purchase said ticket earlier that same day, surely you could just get a replacement… Think again!! Two useless ticket men and nearly £10-11 extra later we could ACTUALLY get back to Walton. Needless to say, I don’t think her ladyship will be placing her ticket in her back pocket again despite doing it several times previously – I guess you really cannot teach an old dog new tricks! :D

Only one more day to go! One more day until the Zombie killing sensation that is Left 4 Dead 2 is in my hands..! Apparently it will even dwarf Resident Evil series – unthinkable right? Well I’m not so sure; having played 1,2 and 5 I’m not overly hooked on them. Yes, I did enjoy them, but ultimately they just didn’t do it for me :( I prefer to have stupid amount of ammunition, stupid amounts of zombies (non-linear spawning) and just go ruddy insane :D Queue Zombieland movie pitch :D

Seriously cannot wait to try this out :)

Anyways, enough for now. Peace,

Chris

Hello again,

So this is like… day 2 of my blog and I’ve actually remembered to a) locate my site, b) remember the admin username and password and then c) to sit here and complete a blog entry, remembering to press ‘Publish’ on exit :) . So I hear I took a trip to London to meet the girlfriend’s mother and sister?? How ‘cool’ am I? :D Actually, to be fair, was quite a nice drive up here and wasn’t particularly difficult or challenging so I can’t even complain about that – that and gf’s mother can cook a damned good meal :D Niceeeeee…!

Next few days should be pretty crazy; not entirely sure what is going on as neither of us have ACTUALLY planned a damned thing (as per usual…), but hell, we drove up here so we might as well go see some stuff right? Trip into the heart of London me thinks..?! Maybe a trip to like… Gamesworkshop (oooo yeah ^^) and maybe Forbidden Planet? It’s all good. Will most likely post a few pictures in a few days, if I survive long enough in the centre of London to a) take photos and b) return home safely! :O That said, I’ve survived gf’s driving and her car so I’m one up already – think Mario, I’m like Super Mario! :D

So who’s cool and has pre-ordered Left 4 Dead 2 on X-box 360 for delivery this Friday? That would be me… who’s your buddeh?! Cannot wait to give it a shot; loved the first one! Although I thought it was a little shot and perhaps a little repetitive, it was still a sweet sweet sweet game and number 2 is set to do exactly the same again. Sick sick SICK! :D But yeah, will most likely write a review or something in a few days time once I’ve played it obsessively for a few days XD

Anyways, I think I have pretty much exhausted this thread so I’ma thinking I’m going to sign it off.

Peace,
